If you feel the urge to purchase this while I am playing, you can pick this game up on your Wii Virtual Console for 1000 points (10 Bucks). Any questions, leave them on my twitter.

Sony Hacked Again?!

Sony was hacked again today, this time on a much smaller scale. 90,000 accounts were hacked but this is only .1 percent of Sony’s client base. 60,000 PSN accounts and 30,000 SOE accounts were hacked to take the credits and move them off the account to do other things. On the Sony blog, they gave a statement saying;

“Less than one tenth of one percent (0.1%) of our PSN, SEN and SOE audience may have been affected…Please note, if you have a credit card associated with your account, your credit card number is not at risk. We will work with any users whom we confirm have had unauthorized purchases made to restore amounts in the PSN/SEN or SOE wallet.”

Emails were sent out to all those effected but what I would like to know is why does this keep happening. I understand there will always be someone out there that has the knowledge and the determination to do this how does this multi billion dollar company get hacked(and it seems like they’re being targeted now) while others don’t.  What measures can Sony take to stop further abuse of their network?

Thank you to DSO Apparition and Lady Roc DSO for bringing this up!

Thursday Throwback: Kirby’s Dreamland 3!

Today’s throwback is a great game, Kirby’s Dreamland 3 came out in 1997 for the Super Nintendo. While the game played like the other two entries before it, the graphics had a pastel, or crayon feel to them. The games solid in my book, it paces awesome, you really don’t notice the the difficulty increasing as you go along because it raises it so gradually that you’ll maybe only die once or twice on a level to just get your bearings.

If you have never played a Kirby game, here is a good place to start because it gives you everything that Kirby is or was with out adding needless game mechanics(tilting on the GBA or Stylus on the DS) or overly dumb graphics(Wii I’m looking at you).  The music and sounds are pretty good for a Super Nintendo game too. I never found myself sitting back and wanting to turn down the sound or anything

If I had any complaints it’s maybe they offer too many different style power ups through out the game. I never felt that I was ever comfortable with any of the different combos to go around and know what I was looking for. I found myself still finding new ones almost right before the game ended. Again this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, one thing this game doesn’t lack is variety but for me personally, when I’m trying to get through a level I’d like to know what minion gives off which power (if any) and how they react with your sidekicks.

I think HAL Labs(of Super Smash Bros fame) hit the nail on the head with a this Kirby entry.  The different graphics give a fresh look while the core game play is as good as it ever was. Sucking up minions and taking their power has never been this much fun. If you’re looking for a good Kirby game on the cheap, get one your Wii, go to your virtual console and pick this game up for 800 points!(8 bucks)

Pre Thursday Throwback Stream: Kirby’s Dreamland 3

Ok guys it’s a nasty day here and since I’m sure maybe some of you don’t have much to do right now, here’s a stream of Kirbys Dreamland 3 which will be featured tommorow in Thursday’s Throwback! If you want to buy this game right away after seeing this, you can go to the Virtual Console on your Wii and pick this up for about 800 points!

Forza Motorsport 4: “The Mega Cruiser” has been completed!

So after five days and countless hours of staring at the TV creating my Mega Man themed Audi in Forza Motorsport 4, it’s done. The car probably has some where close to 2000 layers on it if you combine all the sides.

If you guys have any requests let me know and I’ll see what I can muster. For now I’ll be working on Kirby and you guys will be the first to see it when it’s done! If you see the Blue Bomber liscense plate passing ya, don’t forget to keep your eyes on the road and not the car!

Forza 4: So Much Fun In So Many Different Ways

Naturally since Forza Motorsport 4 came out today I’ve been playing it non stop. I love racing games, especially ones like Forza because of the wide variety of cars and the simulation feel to it. If you never played Forza and are intimidated by the difficulty of a simulation racer fear not, for Turn Ten has added in so many driving aids, all you need to do is basically hit the gas and the car could drive itself. How ever I feel these should be used as only temporary aids. Using it to actually progress through the game takes away the actual fun of all the racing!

Let me put something out there right now before I go into detail about how awesome the game is and how much there is  to do. This is, for the most part, the same game as Forza 3. If you were looking for some thing new and mind blowing, it’s not in this game.

Shot with the in game camera at regular quality.

They improve on some things and add tons of cars but for the most part, this addition to the series is more like a refresher rather than a totally new entry. In my opinion though it’s still worth the money because of some of the new features like the car club, rivals mode, and extra race types like autocross and a more fleshed out drag racing.

Autocross was probably one of the most surprising things I found on Forza today and I was delighted by the fact it was included. For those of you who don’t know what autocrossing is, it’s like a more technical version of the time trials that were on Forza 3. Instead of going through the track as fast as possible, you have to go through sets of gates as fast as possible. If you miss or hit a gate, you get time added on. Simple right?  The big difference is where your car might get into it’s final gear on a regular track, you’re lucky if your car gets out of second in an autocross circuit. There’s a lot of tight turns, slaloms, and obstacles to make sure your car is being put to the test. Autocrossing is also one of the most affordable motorsports as you can use any car and anyone can do it. If you actually want to try it in real life, google auto crossing in your area!

I also spotted that Drag Racing has  a bit more of a focus whether it’s in the online races or even picking out tires. I think this was a great addition to the game because most people that have the game and play it more casually say they just like to drag race their friends. There’s so many muscle cars in this game, how can there not be a big drag racing scene right?

Speaking of the cars, there is such a wide variety. You have everyday grocery getters like some of the cheaper the Ford Fiesta or Honda Civic and then you have tarmac eating, rubber burning, street monsters like old school Dodges and even the AMC Javelin(one of my favorite muscle cars). They even have the DeLorean (of Back to the Future fame), which isn’t fast or anything but definitely worth putting in!

One of my favorite things about the game has to be the Livery Editor (basically your own personal paint shop). You can make anything in there from just some flames or maybe a stripe on your car, to really ridiculous things, like a portrait of Batman on the hood (I’ve seen it done). To be honest, I think this gives players a new way to enjoy the game in a more creative type of way. Especially because you can make one offs that no one else can duplicate even if you sell the car. It’s not difficult either, any one can do it! I actually did this Mario themed one while I was waiting for my friend to get on!

I think the car club function is a neat idea as well. It makes you feel alittle bit more connected with your friends. Rather than everyone playing for them selves, you can share your own cars with the club so that other members can use your car for races.  I think it’ll create a little bit more competitiveness in this game between gamers because people will want to know which club has the better drivers now!

The video and photo ideas are about the same as they were in Forza 3 accept now you can upload a higher resolution image on to the website for download. I’ve seen some pretty cool videos of people doing some pretty cool stunts. Again, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work any of these controls, everything is pretty self explanatory. The only let down was when you upload video or high res photos to Forza’s web site. You only have a day to download them before they’re put back  on to your 360. This really isn’t an issue with the game or anything but  if you had a a million people upload their pictures every day you’d want to know how to conserve room too.

So the bottom line, if your a racing fan who hasn’t played Forza before, a Forza fan looking for more racing action or even a casual gamer wanting to check out all the cool cars and maybe hook a few up, this is your game with out a doubt. For 60 bucks, you get tons of cars, features, achievements and action that will keep you coming back for more. Oh and don’t feel bad if you see my Mario Mobile zooming by you, I play alot! Hope to see you all on the race track!
